In celebration of Women’s History Month, we are proud to recognize our Head of School, Dr. Pamela Baldwin! In 2010, Dr. Baldwin was one of the 1st African Americans to graduate with a terminal degree from the University of North Carolina, Wilmington earning a Doctorate in Education.

Dr. Baldwin attended George Mason University on a cheerleading scholarship where she was the First African American cheerleader and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She also attended the University of North Carolina, Wilmington obtaining a teacher’s certification and continued her education, graduating from East Carolina University with a Masters in School Administration and Certification in Curriculum and Instruction.

While achieving her Doctorate at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, her area of study included an analysis of teacher licensure and its impact on student achievement. Dr. Baldwin has focused her research on transition years, the “opportunity gap”, student voice initiatives, AVID, and strategies to close the achievement gap.
